Ambition
How does ambition effect decision making? Well first, lets define ambition. Ambition is a strong desire to do or to achieve something, typically requiring determination and hard work. The meaning is within itself. Ambition is the the most powerful tool to success. It is how you apply yourself and how badly you want it. Edison had the ambition to invent something to be able to see in the dark without using a candle. Karl Benz had the ambition to travel to places much faster without taking a step. Muhammad Ali had the ambition to be the best. The Wright brothers had the ambition to stop traveling on the ground. America had the ambition to be independent. It is the fire that burns inside of you that will be the thrusting force toward your success. When you want to succeed just as badly as you want to breathe, that is when you will be successful. Those who tell you you cant are the ones afraid you will, that is why you must be self determined. When you have the drive to do what you wish to do, you will do whatever it takes to get it done. However this can also be put toward negative ambition. For example, Northern Vietnam had the ambition to unify the North and South under one communist regime. At a fraction of the size and at more than 10x the casualties, they were able to beat the country with the strongest military force in the world. Their leader Ho Chi Minh was so motivated he even said:
Which turned out to be true. His ambition and guerrilla tactics broke the American spirit and he won. This can also relate to Adolf Hitlers ambition to make Germany a leading world power once more. We all know how that went. His ambition was lebensraum, which is German for "living space". He wanted more space for his Aryan Race and was actually succeeding for quite some time. His ambition to rebuild Germany led him to decide to violate the Treaty of Versailles and ignore the League of Nations. However, Americas ambition to end the war let us to storm up the beaches of Normandy and end the war in Europe. Hard work+ determination will lead you into a bright future. It does not need to be as large as winning a world war or inventing the first airplane. It could be a small goal that allows you to make the right decisions to lead you to that one big goal. Success is a series of decisions that will not always be right. You learn from failure to make the right decisions. All you have to do is keep to it. Your largest regret will be giving up knowing you were so close.
