Ethics and Morals

I recently started watching a TV show called Lost that aired on ABC over a decade ago. It is about a plane that crashes on a mysterious island while on its way to LA from Sydney. The crew believes they are alone but soon finds out they are not. In fact, there is a whole other island they are unaware of that is full of people, but these people aren't especially good. The characters in the show come across problems that force them to question their moral standards. I am currently watching season 3 episode 6 "I Do". Recently, a character by the name of Michael lost his son Walter. Walt was taken by the people from the other island that the characters in the show call "Others". Michael goes crazy looking for his son and ends up being captured while searching for his son. In order to get his son back, and an opportunity to get off the island, they ask Michael to bring them four people from the island, who were Michael's friends. They gave him a list of the four names of the people they wanted: Jack, Kate, James, and Hugo. Michael must choose between his friends or his son and does not hesitate to save his son. He even murdered two more of his friends to create an alibi. When his son was at stake Michael didn't question his morals he did what needed to be done. His friends are disappointed in Michael and end up being taken away from the Island and brought to the island with civilization to be jailed. Michael and Walt leave safely. Currently, the leader of the Others, named Benjamin, has a spinal tumor. Jack just so happens to be a spinal surgeon, which is why he was one of the people who were taken. Juliet, one of the other important faces of the other island, wants Jack to "accidentally" kill Benjamin because he is a dangerous man and the people of the island want change. Jack is faced with a moral problem because he would love to do harm to Benjamin, but as a doctor he can not break the Hippocratic Oath.
