Where He Belongs

Welcome back readers! So this week I decided to go back to a topic i brought up weeks ago, the t.v show Lost. Last time we discussed morals and ethics within a character named Michael, well this week I am going to discuss another character named John Locke. John was born an orphan, his mother being very young and dumb. He was given up for adoption and lived his life from foster home to foster home, often being treated unfairly and seen as an outcast. He was bullied by the children of his foster parents and he kept to himself, quietly playing backgammon. When John was older his mother found him, telling him his father wanted to meet him. John reconnected with his father under the impression that his father wanted to meet his son and be the father he never was. However, his father was an international scammer and was using John to steal his kidney. He made himself look sympathetic so that John would think it was his idea to donate his kidney, but it was his plan all along. John's mother went along with it because she needed the money. John's father, Anthony Cooper, was a rich man from years of scamming. Poor John was played and he was angry with himself, and his father. He would often sit outside Anthony's house expecting him to come out and apologize. This went on for a while until one day Anthony finally went outside and told him to leave, that John wasn't the only person to be scammed by him. John went on to find a partner for life but because he was so obsessed with sitting outside his father's  house waiting for a better response, she left him, and his father left too, to go into hiding. John later finds his father and tries to stop him from scamming somebody else, and gets pushed out of a window, four stories above ground. His spine is shattered and is paralyzed from the hip down. John is frustrated at the fact that he cant walk, and that others are telling him he can't do something. He flies to Australia and tries to go on a nature walk, but of course he gets shut down because John cannot walk. That's when John flies back to LA and crash lands on the Island. Magically, John is able to walk. the island heals people. John believes he is on the island to serve a purpose, that all of the passengers were meant to be there. For the first time in a long time, John can do things for himself. The island calls to him spiritually, he is connected to the island. He is the only person on the island that does not want to go home, and he becomes in charge of the "others", the indigenous people of the island (in case you don't remember). He even goes as far as to sacrifice himself to save the island. Image result for lost island
John was unwanted where he came from and was hurt by nearly everyone he came into contact before he came to the island. For once he felt like he was where he belonged, he had a purpose, he was able to do things on his own, he was able to walk for the first time in months. He was at peace with how things worked out and he was the only one okay with it because for once, he was someone important. The show may be titled Lost, but it seems like John found himself. Have you ever been lost or confused or frustrated and had to go find answers, or the answer came to you as John's did? This is all until next week homes, so smell ya later!Image result for fresh prince logo
