Minimum Wage
In English class we are writing a research paper on issues within the world. The issue I selected was on minimum wage and how it shouldn't be increased. America is supposedly a capitalist country but it is between capitalism and socialism in reality. The government still regulates businesses, just not as much as a socialist economy would. I believe if minimum wage were increased, it would cause more economic distress. Look at it from the perspective of a business owner, if you are forced to pay people more, you lose money. So what do you do? You lose staff members to make up for the amount of money lost, thus creating less jobs. Or, since technology is so advanced, you fire all of your staff and spend that money on high tech robots that can do more than a normal employee could. More people would just be put out of work because of greed. It is understandable in some places that a higher minimum wage is needed because they cannot make ends meet. Some however, have sufficient jobs and are doing fine and just want more. In short, because I don't want to give away too much of what I have to say for my research paper, an increase in minimum wage could cause a cut in hours, job loss, and economic distress.
-that's all for this week, smell ya later.
Nice work!
